I have recently purchased the MINIX 1.5.0 package distributed by Prentice-Hall. However, I didn't receive the 5.25-inch disk media as I requested. I received the 3.5-inch disks instead. The machine I want to install MINIX on does not have a 3.5-inch drive (it does has a 5.25" 1.2M drive). Rather than return the package and wait for several weeks to get the 5.25" disks I would like to find a way to transfer the boot disks to 5.25" format. 1) Can I use the DOS diskcopy on another machine (with 3.5-inch drives) to make 5.25" boot disks? I imagine if I did this I would have to format the 5.25" disks to the same number of tracks and sectors as the original 3.5" disks. 2) Will some other DOS program work instead of "diskcopy"? 3) If I cannot do either of the things above I may be able to temporarily install MINIX on a machine that has 3.5" and 5.25" drives. Is there a way to easily copy the disks then? 4) Alternatively, is there anyone in the Raleigh, NC area who has a set of 5.25-inch MINIX disks I can copy? Please e-mail me if this guestion is not of general interest. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= = Greg Reid <402g South Hall / 737-6148> `Development Officer' = = >> gar@hobbes.catt.ncsu.edu << "The helipads gone.
