[comp.os.minix] help!

HELP!!!

I resently purchased a Seagate ST238 RLL hard disk (30Mb) and wish
to install Minix Ver 1.1 on it. I am having trouble installing it
in partition 2 with partition 1 set up as DOS 3.3. I am using
the minix command

	mkfs /dev/hd2 <partition size>

I keep getting a error when accessing the hard disk. I can, however, install
minix in partition 1 with no problem.

I am running on a IBM-XT compatible.

					Thanx,

We at UCLA are trying to add a new task to the kernel, and we get to a
point where adding one statement makes it so the new boot image will not
boot!! This seems to not be related to the particular statement, since
adding one anywhere seems to cause this problem. We are running v1.2
(created from v1.1 by applying the official diffs). We are running on
IBM PC/AT's with 5Mb of the hard disk dedicated to minix. The root file
system is set up to load from another partition on the hard disk.

Please reply asap, since we are under a definite time constraint.

Thanks in advance!

Help! Can anyone give me the location of comp.os.minix archive
sites, hopefully in New York City so I can go there in person to
get stuff, but net addresses would help too.

I'm reading this news group from a machine that's pressed for
space so they remove stuff all the time and I don't have any of
the articles I need, e.g. for elle and any patches that ease the
installation of Minix on a hard disk.

Any and all help would be appreciated!

My recently acquired 1.3 root file system has had the biscuit. Of
course, I neglected to back this baby up (sloth and stupidity). Since
I am still under warranty for the diskette, I can get a new one from
Prentice-Hall. Since I have first hand experience with them, I thought
perhaps I could beg a virgin copy from someone on Usenet and get going
again before three months are up. Any generous souls out there?

now i have minix.... all 12 disks of it! wow! anyway... i can't seem to get
it to boot. i get to the menu using the boot disk for an at (none of the
others work) and when i press the equals key, all i get is a linefeed.
nothing happens after that. i don't have access to another computer (at
least not for another two weeks) so is there anything i can do from here?
are there any tandy 1000 users out there in net.land? if there are, a copy
of your 3.5" boot disk would be appreciated.

ps... i'm right near the univ. of fla. right now, so if there are any uf
minix users that could be of help i'd be much obliged. thanks.
