I'm running Bruce's Minix-386. I was hoping to set up a UUCP connection for my Minix machine awhile ago but it went by the wayside. Since I've never used anything other than RN to read news and I'm too lazy to learn NN, I decided to port rn to Minix. (Well, "port" gives me too much credit; it was mostly busywork, hardly any code changes. Things like fiddling include files, trying to make cpp work with the Configure script -- which I think may be just a little bit TOO paranoid, discovering some idiosyncarcies with the cpp that comes with BCC, etc). It took about a day, and Larry Wall's Configure script was a great help. Since I've never seen anyone mention rn for Minix (I see people using VN, but I've never used it), I thought I'd post. The text is 96K (the executable is 126K), and I'm not sure if it'll fit into 64K. But it should work on the Amiga and ST. So, is anyone interested? If I get any responses, I'll put it up to an ftp site somewhere (any offers from plains, Glen??? ;-) and post a notice here. BTW, does anyone know where Larry Wall is these days? I tried to send him a note at sdcrdcf.uucp for some suggested changes to the Configure script, but I can't even reach that address. -- "Dad, what should I be when I grow up?" "Honest." -- Robert M.
