I realise that I am probably adressing a mostly PC crowd here, but
never-the-less, there must be one more non-conformist out there in
Minix Land.
Just recently (after receiving my Xmas Visa Bill) I came to the under-
standing that my chances of purchasing a new Amiga 3000/3500 with SVR4
this spring/summer are quickly progressing to zero. Still wallowing in
the pain of studenthood, I think that Minix may prove to be my solution.
However, I am not familiar with the improvements of 1.5 and therefore
have a few questions.
In previous versions, Minix on the Amiga did not support a harddisk, I
have been told that 1.5 supports "some" Amiga harddisk configurations
--Does anyone know which ones? (I am promarily interested in support
for the A2090 controller with either an ST5xx or a SCSI drive attached).
Is Minix on the Amiga (provided that my Harddisk is supported) capapable
of booting on its own, or am I required to bring the system up under
AmigaOS and start Minix from there (as in previous versions); also if
Minix cannot boot from a harddisk, can i tboot from a floppy?
I am sure that I will have more question by the time the Prenhall rep
gets back to me with a price (like what is the going retail price in
cdn and is there a student pricing scheme?).
All answers welcomed,
Roy
