[comp.os.minix] gcc patch for Mac or ATARI?

ogawa@sm.sony.co.jp (Masato Ogawa) (01/27/91)

I have been asked by my friend. He try to port gcc ( and all GNU )
on Mac minix. He is now looking for gcc path for Mac or ATARI, because
he has heard that gcc 1.37 for ATARI minix works well on Mac minix.

  If any, give me information.

Several people have asked me about this, and I've been rather tardy in
replying. I will soon (probably this weekend) ftp a revised version of gcc
to plains.nodak.edu. Once it is installed then everyone can grab it.

I have updated bammi's original gcc package to gcc-1.39, gas-1.37 and 1.5
compatibility. If you apply the patches I posted some time ago to the library
and kernel, you should be able to make yourself a new version of MINIX-ST 1.5
which gives a dhrystone figure approximately twice that of the original.

I will post binaries and patches for gcc and gas. The only differences between
these versions and bammi's are that I have removed all the TOS stuff, and
allowed gas to output 68851 and 68881 code if so asked. The home directory for
gcc is now /usr/gnu rather than /usr/local, and gcc will try /usr/include as
well as /usr/gnu/lib/gcc-include, in the fashion of "standard" gcc ports.
Now that gcc will run with the patched 1.5 include files and libraries, there
isn't really a need for a completely separate gcc include tree any longer.

It's coming as soon as possible, but I'm pretty tied up at work at present.
I'll post again when it's actually installed and available.

Regards
Andy Michael
