[comp.os.minix] C and Pascal compiler sources

vladimir@prosper.Eng.Sun.COM (Vladimir G. Ivanovic) (01/29/91)

The soruces are available (as advertised) from UniPress. I konw nothing about
the Dutch address.

Version 1.2 of C costs $99 and version 1.2 of Pascal cost $149. Unipress
would like to be pre-paid, so send a check, accept COD or use a major credit
card. I didn't ask about the media.

Last time I checked, to get the source for the MINIX C compiler,
one had to have a license for the Amsterdam Compiler Kit (ACK).
Is this no longer the case?

Or does the listed $99 price include the license? What a deal!

The $99 includes the license fee for Pascal.

I hate to bring this up again, but pascal is NOT available for MINIX. It is
available for MINIX-PC, which is not the same thing at all.

The last time I looked (and finally gave up trying to get anyone to sell it
to me) TransMediair had pascal available for the PC, and C sources available
for both PC and 68k.

I have never seen a version of Modula-2 for either the PC or 68k. I had a go
at it for the ST some time ago using the generic ACK Modula-2 sources, but
gave up because there are a lot of sizeof(int) problems in the compiler
source. I suppose these days that I could try again using gcc to produce the
compiler (for those who don't know, the Modula-2 compiler is written in C), but
I'm pretty sure that the legal position of the resulting code would be pretty
hairy.
