Hello. I'm a teaching assistant at UCLA, and we're considering switching our undergraduate operating systems course from MINIX on IBM PC/ATs to Macintosh //s (I'm not sure which flavor). What I'd like to know is what the system requirements are (processor, memory, disk space and partitioning), whether it runs under the Mac OS, disk format, etc. I'm also interested in comments from people who have used Mac MINIX in classes. How has it worked out? Are there many troublesome bugs? Do students have trouble with inconsistencies between the text book and the real code? Is it easier to use than PC MINIX, etc. Thank you very much. Our PC lab is very crowded and the department has an underutilized Mac lab. Our students will benefit from your comments.
