Does anybody know of a program for IBM PC minix Version 1.5 which will configure a Hard Disk to autoboot up with minix. Also does anybody know of a program which will boot up minix from DOS by use of a DOS command e.g. minix.exe. If so, could you tell me whereabouts I can obtain them from with ftp. We have a version of Minix here which is compiled under MS-DOS using Turbo C 2.0. It runs as an MS-DOS application which takes over all control of the machine, but ctrl-alt-del brings you back to where you were in MS-DOS instead of rebooting the machine. This version uses MS-DOS files as Minix file systems, so you don't need to create new partitions for Minix, nor do you need to care about SCSI/ESDI/RLL... whatever the disk controller might be. MS-DOS int 21h is being used for this purpose. However, it was based on Minix 1.3, not 1.5. Because when we made this modification last year, 1.5 wasn't out there (from PH) yet. We are now waiting for PH to ship us our order, then we can proceed to do this on 1.5. If anyone is interested, send me mail and I'll try to send it to you. Benchiao Jai jai@cs.nyu.edu
