[comp.os.minix] Very important, please read it!!!

u31b3hs@cip-s02.informatik.rwth-aachen.de (Michael Haardt) (02/25/91)

Hello world!

There are four important things I have to tell:

1. Origami source codes: I am despaired. I have email from people,
who did not get part 1..2, 1..3, only 3, only 5, 3..5 etc. I am waiting
for a few days, because I reposted part 1 and 2 a week ago. Please stop
sending me email, it is real work to read a dozen complains and two real
mails. If I find any complains in comp.os.minix next week, I will repost
still missing parts, if any.
People who got problems with the three braces in their texts: A friend
of mine is still hacking in Origami. He added a lot of features, but
those new features includes a few new bugs at the moment. I don't know
when we will post this new version, because I do not know how many
features will be added in next future.

2. Mroff: I am still working on version 1.1. It is much better than
1.0. I removed a few bugs, improved the -ms macros and improved the
printer drivers. There are a few more fonts. I added a preprocessor
for automatic hyphenation of english texts, which is derived from Mr.
Allen I. Holub's implementation of Knuth's algorithm. There were once
published in DDJ. I tried it yesterday and it worked great. I will post
it when I finished working on the printer drivers. This should take a
week or two, but I will wait until the Origami theatre is finished.

3. lpr & family: I described to send output to lpr in the MROFF
manual. Sorry for that sentence. It is only valid for my system. I
developed a small lp?* package, which works different compared to UNIX,
but it is very nice for MINIX. It understands print states for single
sheets and endless paper and a few other things. I will post it next
time, too.

4. Solving all my problems with posting sources. There are some
reasons, why I will never get my own MINIX archive on our local ftp
server. Therefore, I am seeking a ftp server with a superuser who gives
me a remote login for admistrating my own world readable archive. My
personal archive on my MINIX machine includes a few MB of several useful
things, but I can't post everything.

Namaskaar
