I had a similar problem with the demo disk in a 1.2 meg drive. The first couple of times I tried, I got past hitting the = key and then came a "file system panic" or something like that. I was clueless at first, but after a while I decided to try writing the demo to another disk. When this got me a little bit farther, but failed while writing the RAM disk, I tried another disk. I made sure the third disk, when formatted with DOS had no bad sectors or anything. After writing to this disk and booting it, everything went fine. So, my conclusion was that there was a problem with the individual disks, not the drive. This might not be the case, though, since I may have just gotten lucky and in another case might not have gotten the same results. In either case, the demo works fine now and all is well!
