The manual :-) entry for test says that -x file should test the file for executability. Instead, -x always returns true, even if the file doesn't exist. The fix is fairly obvious on examining the source, but I haven't been able to test it yet, as I still can't get the compiler to work. cg keeps dying, even on trivial hello world programs, with sig 11. By the way, why is it that execute permission is necessary but not sufficient to allow program execution? (i.e., why is a binary a.out file, mode 111, not executable?).
