I was advised that MINIX might be an OS that would be of use to me.
I've dabbled in the *nix area, but have had no serious applications.
Now we are looking at some very serious applications that require a
UNIX environment.
I was told that MINIX might be a good way to introduce people who
have never used a *nix system to one.
So:
A. Where can I obtain a copy of MINIX?
B. What are the minimums and what are the nice-to-haves with
respect to RAM, chip(286, 386, ???), disk space, etc?
C. What type of documentation is provided, and available?
D. Are there any books or other sources of information?
E. What's involved in installation?
F. Are the standard software packages available(eg we run
WordPerfect under DOS)?
G. Is there a "DOS box" that runs under MINIX so that we could run
our DOS applications there?
H. What tools come with MINIX?
I. How's the support from the company(what is the company? guess
that get's answered in A. above)?
Thanks for info.
