Hi Folks!
Once again there is a lot of discussions about new versions.
I have just updated my 1.2 to 1.3, and ther is already talkings about
1.4 (abcd or so..) and even 2.0

What is 1.4 containing that 1.3 didnt have? And when will it be released?
This talking about 2.0 what is this ??????
I am using a AT with to hd's.. Will there be any way of running in prot. mode?
And how about a swapper in Minix?
Would appreciate some clearification at these matters.

Once again I'm using a friends account.

I'm trying to install minix on a PC with a seagate st251 40mg hard disk drive.
The drivers supplied with minix don't support the seagate drive.
Where can I find information about how to write a driver for this kind of disk?

Hi,

Sorry for not being more specific, the last article was written
kind of quickly. SRGP is a Simple Raster Graphics Package and was written
by Foley and VanDam etc. It is a platform for graphics programs and if
one has a version of SRGP on his platform, many graphics programs will run
on this platform. The reason we would like to port it to MINIX 1.5
is that someone could implement a very portable window manager and have
everyone use it. We are going to port many software graphics tools that we
have written in house to MINIX for a larger project and research.

Thanks for all honest replies, Ian

I tried the Mnx 1.5 demo that was available via FTP. I fell in love with
it! The demo disk ran fine on my system. It was a factor in my ordering
the stock version of Mnx. I have a XT clone with a Seagate 225 20M HD. I
received 1.5 from PH the other day. I made copies of the distribution
disks and went to work. Well, for some reason after Minix loads the ram
disk it will not come back and tell to put in the /usr disk and type
return. I can boot with the demo disk. I ran the test on the harddrive
that was indicated in the manual. It turned out fine. From what I can
tell, Minix is not executing the file 'rc' located in /etc. I would
appreciate any suggestions anyone might have. Thanks.

I couldn't send mail to you, but if you could send me the responses
you get about GCC to minix, it would interest me alot. I have looked for a
version but all I found was the 32 bit version and this clearly did not work.

Thanks in advance Ian
