I made a tar file of /usr/src/tools which I have NOT been able to transfer successfully from MacMinix to my Mac. The tar file is about 150K in size, but the Mac file ends up being only 2704 bytes. All the other tars of the /usr/src hierachy have been transferred successfully using a command like % macwrite tarfilename <tarfilename which copies the tar file to a MacOS file in the Minix boot folder. I tried compressing `tools.tar' (using a much slimmed down 16bcompress) and then transferring, but still only a fraction of the expected size. It's not the name `tools.tar', and I know the tar file is good because I untarred it in another directory and all the files I checked summed exactly the same. But, when I tried transferring individually one of the files in the tools subdirectory, macboot.ack, a ~75K file, I write only 122 bytes to the Mac folder. Voila! The problem. Why? BTW, macboot.ack and init.ack are the only two *.ack files in the /usr/src hierarchy. -- Vladimir -- ============================================================================== Vladimir G.
