[comp.os.minix] Minix keeps crashing when using MultiFinder

jba@gorm.ruc.dk (Jan B.Andersen) (03/26/91)

The manaul says that Minix should work just fine with MultiFinder, but
it constantly crashes on my IIsi (System 6.0.7, MaxMinix 1.5.10.1).

Most of the time it boots OK, but only to stop working after a few
minutes. Sometimes the screen/mouse just frezes, at other times I get
the famous "Co-processer not installed". In a very few cases it errors
out during boot with the message "MacBoot stopped unexpectedly (-3)"
(or whatever the english/american translation is).

Should I try increasing the program size, the heap size or both?

I have not experienced any problems running with just the Finder, and
all the other applications seems to work fine with MF, so I don't
expect it to be a problem with INIT's.

Am I the only one who has problems with MF on a IIsi?

Thanks,

Jan B. Andersen <jba@dat.ruc.dk>

I get plenty of crashes too...

Correct... That is a known problem with MacMinix. I believe that a fix is
coming soon, but it is overdue. If you're like me, that one problem alone
keeps me from being able to use MacMinix.
