I've notice that log out records are not written to /etc/wtmp when our system (4.1bsd) is shutdown. This happens with 'kill -TERM 1' or the Berkeley shutdown command. I wouldn't have even noticed except that our system runs VMS in the afternoons and anyone who forgot to log out gets billed for UNIX time while VMS is running. I suspect that a bug in init is causing my problem. Before I go tearing into init myself, I'd like to hear from anyone else who has observed or (I hope) fixed this problem.
