Bell Telephone Labs has released the source code and manual page for it's version of the device driver for the Ikonas RDS-3000 Graphics Display System. The device driver for this video frame buffer was developed for use with the Berkeley 4.1 Unix operating system, although it may be modified for use with other Unix systems. Features: configurable for multiple Ikonas devices, enforces exclusive use of the device, handles both field interrupts as well as interrupts generated by the Ikonas microprogrammable processor, supports the "sender-id" capability and interface master reset. The driver guards against "hanging the system" should the Ikonas fail during an I/O operation. Programmed I/O transfers as well as DMA transfers are supported. Source for the driver and a manual page may be requested by sending your name, your unix mail address, your telephone number, postal mailing address, and company affiliation to Ron Gordon (allegra!rdg), Bell Labs, (201) 582-4099. The driver is offered with no warranty and without support.
