A piece of mail from Bruce Evans has pointed out to me that my changes
to the fs were incorrect. I've searched the code further and found the
spot in estdio that I believe is causing the incorrect file pointer
behavior (as reported by ftell()) on files opened with fopen(whatever, "a").
So, if you've applied my change to the files fs/open.c and fs/read.c,
please change back to the original source.
I've patched the file _fopen.c in estdio2.1 to fix the problems I reported
earlier, but I want to thoroughly test it before I post the patch.
