[comp.os.minix] Arbitron ratings for March

ast@cs.vu.nl (Andy Tanenbaum) (04/06/91)

How about this as an argument against splitting the newsgroup. Here are
the March Arbitron figures. If there are two newsgroups, we won't know
how many readers there are. For MS-DOS, it is somewhere between 50,000
and 135,000, but it is impossible to tell how many.

50000, everybody posts the queries in the wrong places, so to find
bits of info, I have to read all the comp.os.msdos groups.

Besides, that's irrelevant, we can count the readers of comp.os.minix
as the "good" readers "must" read comp.os.minix.

Wer can expect less than about 5% of readers reading only
comp.os.minix.<whaterver-it-becomes>
