[comp.os.minix] MINIX 1.5 disks with manufacturing defects

ast@cs.vu.nl (Andy Tanenbaum) (04/06/91)

PH is trying to see if there are actually any bad disks being shipped.
Everytime someone complains about a bad disk, it turns out that they
first copied something on top of it using DISKCOPY, or something like
that. The only verified bad disks so far are the Amiga boot disks, which
had one consistent error. Fortunately Raymond and Steven are good at
precognition and thoughtfully provided a duplicate of that file on the disk.

If there are any people who current possess a disk with an unambiguous
manufacturing error on it (unreadable, bad track, etc.) please contact me.
But please, if you think you might have messed it up yourself, please
DON'T contact me.

Disks were good, but not the manual

I recieved the MS-DOS v1.5 and all the disks were fine, but the
binder that the new manual was in, literaly fell apart when I
opened the box. I re-riveted the metal ring holder back into the
plastic shell, and have been living with that while my nasty-gram
back to PH is being debated (i guess?).
