[comp.os.minix] 386 Minix

sui@cat56.cs.wisc.edu (Sui Choy) (08/05/90)

I have several questions about MINIX, the recent update version 1.5.xx
does it support the 386 and extended memory? Or is there a 386 version
MINIX on the market already ?

Also, can someone tell me the availability of MINIX, (company name,
phone no. etc.) and what version do they offer ?

			       Thanks in Advance ...

I've heard some talk lately about Minix 386. What, exactly is it? Is it just
a modified 32-bit version of 1.5?? What advantages does it have?

The red ordering card in my manual makes no mention of it. How would I go
about upgrading to it??? (I don't have any access to FTP sites!).
By the way, I'm using 1.3 right now.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi,
Sorry to ask a probably frequently asked question. I now have
minix and a 386SX. Once I have the regular minix setup, what do I do
to get the 386 modifications (or where do I get them)? Also, what
are the recommeded packages, I should pick up (i.e. BASH, nice, ...)
and where do I find them?
Thank you and sorry for being a pain,

				Neal Stephenson.

I wish I could devise a sig worth printing.
