I'm going to buy minix and the book as soon as I can scrape together the $$ (not easy for a college student), but in the meantime, I'd like to get a couple of questions answered if I could... 1) Is minix a full blown UNIX-alike? ie. multitaksing *and* multi- user? 2) Can it use AT extended memory? 3) How UNIX-like is it? What ommissions or extensions? 4) How much is the book supposed to cost? I've seen a $24.95 price and a $36.something price. 5) Does it work on an ATI ATTAK AT clone board? 6) What is an easy way to put minix and DOS on one AT? I'd like to put DOS on one hard-disk and minix on another, but I can't think of an easy way (one that doesn't involve moving drive cables) to switch between active drives. Netland, Have recently setup Minix on my system, and while I have successfully used 'term', 'rz', and 'sz', I cannot get it to accept remote login. That is, the combination of stty [tt* files], modem, and getty won't put the modem in auto-answer mode. I did not find a 'gettydefs' file either. How does one setup for remote-line tty1 ? I have just began reading this newsgroup, & I'm sure this too has been previously asked, but: how does one get Minix to take advantage of a color monitor Thanks john
