Hello world! I own a little SHARP BASIC computer and build a RS232 interface to connect it with my 386. I want to use one serial line for usual logins (from my neighbour) and sometimes for data transfer to the SHARP. How can I disable a login on one line temporary (disable means no login/getty process on the line)? Namaskaar Michael Haardt (mhaardt@ftp.thp.uni-koeln.de) Note to Beta-Testers: Steve Kirkendall sent me his HP II Laserjet driver for MROFF. Send me a mail if you want to test it on your system. It works fine. :-)

I'd appreciate getting a shot at playing with it... | Ken Corey kenc@vaxb.acs.unt.edu ken@isect.lonestar.org | | "Ladies strewn, those made to witness his charm, never daring or | | allowed to touch the man behind the machine." -Leah |

With getty 3.17 try ungetty -o tty? to disable the getty on line /dev/tty? and ungetty -i tty? to reenable it. You must be root when typing the commands. ps al shows that the getty changes from wainting on TTY to pause and back. -- -- Ralf Wenk -- ralf@ptavv.ka.sub.org
