Recently there have been some flames and complaints about the reachability of the Minix ftp server in Cologne (ftp.thp.Uni-Koeln.DE, 134.95.64.1). Especially there have been two reports about regular ftp timeouts while trying to reach the host. The problems seem to be due to some flaws in the TCP/IP implementation of the server (a uVAX II running Ultrix 2.2). To overcome these problems until we manage to install a new OS (there are plans to run 4.4BSD once it is available), the archive is now also available from ftp.Uni-Koeln.DE [134.95.80.1] /thp/minix [N.B. you must cd /thp because you start in /pub after login!] Since the archive is accessed via NFS, please use this host only if ftp.thp doesn't work for you. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.
