Hello All, last day I tryed to install the virtuel consols. But there was a big problem. When I startet with Minix I patched the kernel for only one harddisk, because I work with an AT-Bus controler AND an Adaptec 1542B-controler. So Minix can only work with the AT-Bus-controler. But then I startet with the vituel consols But the only thing that happend, when I booted with the new kernel was just nothing (not much :-((((). So, I need a person who can tell me what to do. Minix without vc works fine (no problems), so there must be a posibility to change the vc, so I can work with both: AT-Bus and Adaptec (Minix uses only the AT-Bus, but I do not want to take out the AHA-1542B when I work with Minix) Thanks in advance, and excuse my english Tschuess Stefan BITNET SSTONJEK@DOSUNI FIDONET 2:243/16.3

If you have the Adaptec SCSI bios installed, the bios parameter block will indicate to Minix that there are two hard drives. Minix does not understand that only one of the hard drives is on the standard AT controller. As a result Minix will hang when it attempts to read the partition table from the second hard drive. To fix this problem, you must hard code the number of hard drives into at_wini.c. -- Bob Amstadt boba@netcom.com 408-738-2479
