OFP = (FILE *) POPEN(PAGER, WMODE); This patch makes trouble if you have 16 Bit int's and >16 Bits for pointers, like ATARI ST. Why not simply: extern FILE *popen(); That's ok on any machine. Another question: has anyone used Lharc for Minix?? Or more specifically, has anyone successfully compiled the version 1.00 that's on plains? Interestingly enough, make did not work. At all, in fact. So, I tried everything manually. I was able to compile all the sources, but what is the steps to link [asld] all of them? Is lzhuf.s the main module? I tried simply cc -o lharc *.s but apparently all the library calls were suddenly undefined. I dunno, I haven't put in enough time with it yet, but was wondering what the word is on it to date. Lharc is quite useful & would be nice if it worked in another good program/environment - Minix. john

The newest version of LHarc-unix is v1.02 by Y.Tagawa, and its implemen- tation for minix is made by Fred Van Kempen (waltje@uwalt.nl.mugnet.org). A new patch for timezone problems when lists ms-dos-made files is presented here, comp.os.minix. Unfortunately I have no-access to FTP, thus I don't know where you can get it by FTP, may be Fred Van Kempen will help you (^_^). The followings are the listings of source-files by lharc-minix itself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ PERMSSN UID GID SIZE RATIO STAMP NAME ----------------- ------- ------ ------------ -------------------- rw------- 10/10 2426 52.0% Jul 13 1990 Install rw------- 10/10 1680 45.3% Jul 13 1990 Makefile rw------- 10/10 3240 42.0% Jul 13 1990 Makefile.unix rw------- 10/10 525 70.4% Jul 13 1990 Net.message rw------- 10/10 1881 54.4% Jul 13 1990 READ.ME rw-r--r-- 10/10 808 68.6% Nov 18 1990 comment.doc rw------- 10/10 13097 28.1% Jul 13 1990 lhadd.c rw------- 10/10 29664 31.0% Nov 18 1990 lharc.c rw-r--r-- 10/10 744 47.4% Nov 18 1990 lharc.cdif rw------- 10/10 7475 40.1% Jul 13 1990 lharc.doc rw------- 10/10 9431 31.9% Jul 13 1990 lharc.h rw------- 10/10 6200 45.7% Jul 13 1990 lharc.n rw------- 10/10 2011 42.1% Jul 13 1990 lhdir.c rw------- 10/10 886 49.4% Jul 13 1990 lhdir.h rw------- 10/10 6154 36.1% Jul 13 1990 lhext.c rw------- 10/10 6694 28.7% Jul 13 1990 lhio.c rw------- 10/10 1483 45.4% Jul 13 1990 lhio.h rw------- 10/10 6749 33.1% Jul 13 1990 lhlist.c rw------- 10/10 4821 35.8% Jul 13 1990 lhshort.h rw------- 10/10 22522 29.9% Jul 13 1990 lzhuf.c rw-r--r-- 10/10 1866 49.9% Dec 10 11:55 patch.lha ----------------- ------- ------ ------------ -------------------- Total 21 files 130357 34.6% May 6 12:01 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 91.05.06 (Mo) 12:57 nemossan@mix, nemossan@uitec.ac.jp

I "ported" LHarc/UNIX 1.00 to MINIX some time ago- merely a matter of cleaning things up and calling it 1.02/MINIX. I compiled it with BCC to skip the "long names to short ones" phase. I just got a note from the LH author (LHarc is called LH now) that he is about to send me the newest sources for porting. I will not port it completely, including Makefiles and long names. The result will be posted here, as usual.
