[comp.os.minix] Crosscompiling with Turbo C 2.0

u31b3hs@cip-s02.informatik.rwth-aachen.de (Michael Haardt) (06/14/91)

Hello!

I just managed to cross-compile things for MINIX PC with Turbo C 2.0
using the s2asm package, nearcall and dos2out. The only problem is that
something with the signal handling does not work correct. I guess that
it has to do with setjmp/longjmp. I took the MINIX versions and
converted them by s2asm, but perhaps they are compiler dependent. Is
this true? dos2out was not able to convert exe files to MINIX load
format, because it is unable to get the right text segment size. At the
moment, it asks me for this size before converting, but this is a
suboptimal solution. Any suggestions?

Anything else is fine. I compiled rogue (and played it all the
weekend) and although Origami is my favourite Editor, I compiled elle
4.1g (not 4.1b)!!! I do not like things only available as binaries. I
wrote a small document about how to compile libraries for MINIX PC with
ACK, BCC and Turbo C. I will post it to this group, since a lot of
people seem to have problems with building new libraries - tsort being
one. I built my library with 80286 optimization and I hate working
with DOS, so I can't build XT binaries. Maybe some XT user will do so
and put a new elle binary on a ftp server.

Since using Fred's WNEWS 3.00 I regularly get the message file table
overflow when unbatching while make is running. I increased FILPS to
96, to increase the file table. Is this ok, or should additional work
be done?

PS: I got a lot mail after posting the MINIX software list, but there was
nobody who send me entries of other software on other archives. Is the
list complete? ;-) I am sure it isn't.

Where can s2asm be found?
