[comp.os.minix] tty problems

nealstep@nexus.yorku.ca (Neal Stephenson) (06/14/91)

Hi, More new user questions.

I can't figure out how to set up the ttys file. It doesn't seem to be
in the manual and it is different from a couple of unix texts.

I want to set minix up for a modem at 1200 baud on tty1 and a terminal on
tty2 at 9600. my ttys file is as follows:
100 (i think it the console anyway)
1C1 (C for 1200 modem, i think again)
1f2 (f forr 9600 direct)

tty2 works fine. tty1 on the other hand the modem (hayes 1200) autoanswers
Carrier detects, but then minix does not seem to realize there's a connection
and ignore it. Any help welcomed. E-mail preferred, but post it to the world if you think the interest is there.

well - everything you did is ok, but your mistake is, that you started a
getty up on line 1 - AND GETTY IS (probably) THE MOST BUGGY PROGRAMM IM MINIX!
try to contact PH or andy or look at plains.nodak.edu to get a working version
of this stuff...
(could someone pls look if there's also a version for the atari-st? i don't
have any ftp...)
hope this helps Joerg
