Earlier, I posted about a problem with a messy display when there are moving (ie. thrown) objects in Nethack under Minix ST. It turns out that Nethack sends NUL characters to the terminal to slow down the movement a bit, and that those characters appear on the Minix screen. For now, I just set the (obscure) "nonull" runtime option, and the problem seems to go away. My top ten file is still scrambled, though. Is the version of nethack that you have been working on available? It sounds great! - Micah Silverman

It still has some annoying bugs (it scrambles the top ten file, for instance), and, of course, it requires Minix 386 or Minix 68K. I wonder how many of the remaining bugs are in the Minix libraries or OS? In any case, I might post my diffs (they are not too large) in a week or two, when I've had time to test everything out. With gcc, you need at least 3 megs of RAM to compile the program!! If I ever get the binary to the point that it is as bug free as Eric Smith's TOS version of Nethack, I might consider posting it. Then again, as Wayne of Wayne's World says, monkeys might fly out of my butt :-) David -- //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// / David Megginson david@doe.utoronto.ca / / Centre for Medieval Studies meggin@vm.epas.utoronto.ca / ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
