Hi, I just started using MINIX on my 386. Now I've got a few questions: 1. What are virtual consoles? I read somewhere that this should be something extremely useful, but I haven't got a clue what it is. 2. Is there a simple shell with a history function which also allows command lines to be edited ( a simple insert mode will do nicely .) 3. I can't get the 16bit compress I ftp'd from plains to work. It produces about 18MB of nonsense from a 400k .tar.Z file. I just called it with the -d switch. What am I doing wrong? 4. Is there a fast way to copy the contents of an entire file system from one HD partition to another? cpdir takes about 20 minutes for 10MB. I have not yet recompiled it under MINIX386. (Might that help). thanks in advance, hans - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I __ I Hans Bernhard Wiezorke (at Uni. of Karlsruhe) I I /opus\ _____(@ \ I E-Mail : S_WIEZORKE@iravcl.ira.uka.de I I \sndo/ /. !
