Subject: Nick Pippenger
I'm happy to announce that Nick Pippenger has been named an IBM
Fellow. This is the highest technical honor in IBM. IBM Fellows are
selected on the basis of sustained technical achievement. The
official citation for Nick's fellowship said the following:
Nicholas J. Pippenger, Almaden Research Center, San Jose,
Calif., is a leading theoretical computing scientist who has
contributed greatly to the theory of switching networks and has
done pioneering work on parallel algorithms.
