Yes we are on the internet and yes ftp and telnet are both available.
Just recently they installed the name server so that you can reach most
internet addresses just by using the name that they give you, e.g.
"vm1.nodak.edu". That particular server can also return information to you
by mail. If you want to ftp many megabytes of data, you might want to
ask around to see if someone's got it already.

I went and ftp'd the list of attendees from FOCS 88, it is
in /var/scr/theory/focs88.people

After some conversation about the never-ending "aliases" saga, I have
created a mail alias that should solve our problems (whatever they may be).
The alias, "theorynews", does both the following:
  (1) sends the mail to the newsgroup ut.theory, which you read with "rn".
  (2) sends the mail to everyone listed in the file
      neat.ai:/local/share/mail/lists/theorynews.
      Currently this file contains "bor,fich,gathen,rackoff,sacook".

You use this by typing "mail theorynews".

The file (mail/lists/theorynews) is writeable by everyone. If you want to
get your stuff by mail and skip reading ut.theory, then just add your
name to that list. If you want to read ut.theory instead, take your name off.

In order for the "theorynews" alias to be useful, we have to use it
consistently. That is, do *not* use the "theorygroup" alias, and do
*not* Pnews to ut.theory. Either one of these would miss some people.

What should those of us without accounts on ai do? (Life's tough for us
sort-of theory types :-) )
