[ut.theory] housewarming party

nishi@theory.toronto.edu (Naomi Nishimura) (01/10/89)

Dear Friends:
You and yours are cordially invited to attend a housewarming party at
our new home, at 9 Mary Street in Georgetown. Actually, the house has been
ours for three months now, but we decided that if we kept trying to make it
perfect, we could put off things indefinitely. The party will take place
during the afternoon and evening of 21 January (that's Saturday). It's a
potluck affair -- please bring some food suitable for eating from paper
plates while standing up, and we'll trust the laws of probability to
provide us with balanced meals. Show up any time after 3:00 pm -- supper
will be around 6:30 or so. Please let us know if you're coming for sure,
and what you're bringing (once you decide), so that we can lay in supplies.
We'll have a couple of cases of beer on hand, but if your tastes run to
more exotic beverages, you may wish to supplement that. If you have room
in your car, or need a ride, we will attempt to act as co-ordinators.
Directions follow.

Looking forward to seeing you --

By car: take the 401 westbound to the Trafalgar Road exit (before Highway 25,
past Winston Churchill Drive). Take Trafalgar Road north into
Georgetown. Ignore the sign that tells you to turn right, and keep going
straight until the road ends at Highway 7. Turn right on Highway 7 and
curve back into Georgetown. You'll go over a railway bridge and come down a
hill; the road will fork, one branch going left and one straight into
downtown. Do neither: stay in the right lane, and just BEFORE the fork,
make a right turn on Henry St. Then take the next right onto Cleaveholm,
and the next left onto Mary. We're half a block up, on the left.

By bus: take the subway to Yorkdale and catch a GO bus. There are buses at
2:55, 3:25 (with a change in Brampton), and 5:55. A ticket will cost
$4.90 each way. The bus stops in downtown Georgetown, which is only two
blocks long, and the only thing that looks even remotely like a downtown.
Get off and walk north (that's uphill) along Main St.; Highway 7 will merge
into it in a couple of blocks, it becomes Guelph St., and just after that you
will see Henry St. on the left. Turn left, and then follow the car directions.
Buses return to Toronto at 5:00, 6:00, and 9:00.
