bmkapron@theory.utoronto.ca (Bruce Kapron) (04/04/89)
As part of an ongoing series, Arvind's talk will again be postponed until next week. Instead we have: Time: Tuesday, April 4, 1989 (TODAY!!!) Location: GB420 Speaker: Dan Simon Summary: I will speak on "Variations on Zero Knowledge". Since it was first introduced by Goldwasser, Micali, and Rackoff in 1985, the zero-knowledge interactive proof system has been the subject of much investigation, modification, and general dicking around, with the result that numerous variations, extensions and applications have emerged. I will review/explain the basics of "zero-knowledge interactive proof systems" (including what, exactly, they are), and discuss the various neat tricks that can be (and have been) done with them. This talk is a practice for my depth oral, so all are warmly encouraged to come and offer suggestions, condolences, or hearty laughter at my pathetically amateurish and artless slides. No background is required; a pulse is recommended (but not essential).
