Just a quick note that biologist James Krakowski and his wife definitely heard the call of the Kauai 'o'o (Moho braccatus) this summer in the central Alakai. They heard the bird's distinctive song once one one day and twice the next day. The bird was not seen. [For those who don't know about the 'o'o, it's the world's rarest bird, and hasn't been seen since 1984.] Bob Cunningham Hawaii Institute of Geophysics, University of Hawaii ...nosc!humu!uhmanoa!bob or bob@uhmanoa.ics.hawaii.edu -- Bob Cunningham bob@hig.hawaii.edu
