Our tape drive manufacturer (Cipher) recommends the use of Freon TFfor cleaning all the parts of our drives. Seems to work, and they claim it does not leave the gummy oxide/glue residues that alchohol cleaners do. -Dan Klein, Mellon Intitute, Pittsburgh
