Well, the results are in and they are certainly staggering. The volume of
responses was impressive. It raised a question about the readership of
rec.birds .... *Is anyone out there*?.
Here are the number of responses to the question: "Should this newsgroup
be restricted to discussion of wild birds and should the budgies and parrots
go to rec.pets.
Restrict to wild/feral birds ---------- 7 YES
Allow domestic and pet birds ---------- 2 YES
I think that the general consensus is that the few people wishing to discuss
pet and domestic birds (i.e. $ 10K parrots) should move their postings to
rec.pets.
I have also concluded that most people must use newsgroups in the same way
they use a television. They tune in but never participate. Sort of reminds
me of a Peter Seller's line from the movie "Being There":
"I like to watch"
