The final total for the Christmas Bird Count in Toronto (27 Dec) was 98 species--nearly a record. Nothing particularly outstanding was reported, however. Since Christmas, a Black Vulture has been seen on numerous occasions in Burlington, Ont. (near Hamilton, at extreme western end of Lake Ontario). Also, there, people have seen Varied Thrush, Brant (2), and Tufted Titmouse (at northern limit of range here). --Jim Rising -- Name: Jim Rising Mail: Dept. Zoology, Univ.
