1. general manager/executive director:
This position requires an individual with a biological sciences
background, preferably in ornithology with a post-graduate degree or
equivalent experience. Previous experience in management, fund-raising
and communications is preferred.[...] Ability to delegate responsibility
and work with and encourage volunteer involvement is essential.
2. manager-field operations:
This position requires an individual with wide experience in ornithology
and an interest in research. A sound knowledge of the identification
of birds in all plumages is essential. [...]
3. volunteer field assistants:
Long Point Bird Observatory requires volunteer field assistants for
variable lengths of time during the period from 1 April to 15 November.
Room and board are provided. These positions provide a rare and
interesting opportunity to work in the wilderness setting of Long Point.
They are designed to provide valuable field experience to young people
pursuing a career in biology. Duties may include bird netting and
banding, bird census, research, management of data and maintenance
of the facility.
