I hate to see all this anti hunting stuff come in this group.
So much is said by such groups about hunters and hunting.
We are not talking illegal hunting. Good conservationist
know the merits of hunting. It would be nice if we could stop
the human exploting nature areas especially outside cities.
But talk realistic especially with Reagan in office. We need
efforts to control Crows for farmers and other birds. Hunting
offers that solution and the fees and taxes that are collected
provide money for other nature funding.

Conservation organizations realize that hunting can be to natures
benifits. Every month Audubon has articles written by Ted Williams
about the subject. International Wildlife last month had two
success stories about it. One about Salt Water Crocidiles (sp?)
being used for skins as an incentive to people keeping these
animals on there ranches. Another about culling wildlife
and ranching wildlife in Africa for profits as an incentive for
people to get keep wildlife around.

You have to be realistic in this developing world. It is nice to say
we have to keep the population down to allow room for wildlife
but how do you get the whole world to do it? You cant. I agree that
some of you out there are unrealistic bleeding hearts.

		A women that hunts.

But I am! The area in question is within city limits, and is
"dedicated open space". The "hunting" and discharge of firearms in the
area is _illegal, and highly dangerous being that homes, roads and a
golf course are well within the range of an errant bullet. Most of the
potential "targets" are off limits anywayy!

. .... much deleted about the merits of _legal_ hunting...

I agree that on a _case_by_case_ basis legal and controlled hunting
can be a boon to nature. What concerns me is the indiscriminate use of
firearms in prohibited areas by person/s that have no idea what they are
doing...as in "hunting" ground squirrels with a .44 magnum! I don't like
gun control, I have nothing against _legal_ hunting, but I've got this
real problem with idiots going out and playing weekend Rambo in an area
that is neither set aside nor appropriate for this usage. I hope that
clarifies my position somewhat.
