Hello, it seems the pet bird contigency went on a vacation. Where is everyone? Cally is doing quite nicely. She whistles, begs petting, and now she even talks. Not too clearly yet, but I have heard her say "Pretty Birdie" and "Pretty bird, bird, bird". What comes next? How do you get a cockatiel to make her speech clearer? What are the easiest words to teach her to say? Does anyone out there have a talking cockatiel? Is it unusual for a four month old cockatiel to be able to talk? Sorry about the questions, but I have only been able to find a few pages on the subject. All the cockatiels I personally know of do not talk, except Cally. She, for newcomers, is a hand-raised baby pied, named for the telepath in Blake's 7. She can untie knots, unscrew wing nuts, and is trying to figure out how to tie knots. I think she wants to be a nuclear physicist when she grows up. |-) Or maybe just a rebel. ;-) -Mary, and Cally, the Precocious Cockatiel Cally: What is it? Avon: It looks like a door.
