[net.unix-wizards] Inter Process Communication

john (11/17/82)

I have some programs written for BSD4.1 that use multiplex files that
I am trying to convert for use with BSD4.2 We are not currently
running 4.2, but will undoubtably convert to it as soon as it is
publicly available. As I understand it, multiplexed files will
go away in BSD4.2 and will be replaced with the new "Inter Process
Communication" Facility. Now I have some documentation that I
obtained at USENIX (Boston) dated February 14, 1982 but the IPC
facility is not fully explained.

Is it possible for someone out there with better documentation to send
it to me? I am really only interested in the Inter Process facility,
or the public memory mapping (I am not clear on how this is intended to
be used.) I really don't care about networks or machine to machine
process interaction.

THANX in advance,

         John P. Nelson (decvax!genradbolton!john)
