I am the proud owner of a pair of budgies. The female never really liked the male but they used to get along ok. She has been laying eggs for the last two months. However recently and suddenly she started to attack the male companion. He is now fearfull of her and sometimes gets thrown down from a perch. This has made him rather tense. She is about 2 1/2 years of age while he is about 8 months old. They have been seen mating as recently as this morning. However she is still moody and will sometimes attack him. My problem is to have those two birds to get along together. I have tried to separate them for few days. The female is placed in a small separate cage. The male will fly over the cage and stay on the perch places outside the females cage, chippering happily to a calm and attentive female. When reunited she will be quiet for about 1 to 2 days and then returns to her violent self. This is a new development (about 1 month) and I would need any type of advice anyone can offer. The cage is always kept open. He will rarely venture in when she is not in her nest box. Pleaaaaaaaaase any help, A desperate pet owner. _____________________________________________________________________ Patrice Scattolin.
