I am about to buy a pair of compact binoculars. I would appreciate any feedback/comment, in particular regarding the appropriate magnifying power. Having been an enthusiast birder more than a decade ago, I was found of my 8x40. 8x25 looks good when you try the binoculars in the store, but out about in the woods? How about 9x25??? Can someone give me some indication on the reason why there is such a large difference between the low end (Nikon has pairs starting at $50+) and high end (Zeiss goes at something like $350 if I am not mistaken)? Please e-mail. I'll post a summary if the volume justifies it. Thanks. Stephane
