I am hoping for some advice from experienced parrot keepers on the net. I just put a down-payment on a wonderful Umbrella cockatoo, who is the sweetest, cuddliest, dearest little bird. However, I am concerned that at the age of 7 months, he still is being syringe fed and has not yet begun to crack seed. Apparently, his brood brother started cracking seed months ago, and has been someone's pet for months. Why the heck is my cockatoo taking so long? He is still living in the shop of the breeder who raised him, where he gets tons of attention daily. I have no objection about taking over the task of syringe feeding him, but I am just wondering if this is indicative of a problem with the bird, or whether this is just a personal idiosyncracy.... Any advice/information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. LW
