[rec.birds] Spring in Toronto

rising@utzoo.uucp (Jim Rising) (04/19/89)

This has been a cold, late spring in southern Ontario,
but things are returning slowly but surely.
On Sunday, the cold, leafless beech-maple woods on the
Niagara Escarpment bustled with territorial flickers,
sapsuckers, and robins, and many kinglets of
both kinds flitted about looking for food. Rudy-cr.
were in full song.
A friend saw a Myrtle Warbler, and I saw my first
Hermit Thrush, vultures, and Savannah Sparrows.
Grouse were booming. It was nice to have some life
in the woods.
