[rec.birds] Something about Love Birds?

pkoo@uhura.cc.rochester.edu (Peter Koo) (05/13/89)

Hi, I'm sort of new to this news group but here I go. I've purchased a
pair of hand fed peach-face love birds a couple months ago...I basically
was wondering if any of you bird lovers would know anything about these
guys (Harold and Ellie)? (ie Life span, sex, personalities...etc...)

This would be greatly appreciated....

I own a hand-fed peach-face lovebird. He's a great pet. I don't
know a lot about the species. I would like to know how long they
live. I think he's a male because of his behavior, and his plumage
is very bright. He does a little dance for me and is always
regurtating seeds onto my fingers, etc. I have heard that if you
have a pair they become less tame, especially if they start
breeding. They bond to each other instead of you and become
protective. My bird is very protective of me and will bite most
people that try to touch him. He is quite jealous. He even nips my
dogs nose if he gets a chance. I know this isn't much help. I hope
other people know more so I can learn the answers to your questions
too.
