I removed all the perches last night but couldn't get the birds in a calm state. They WANTED their perches. I let them have a tiny amount of light thru their covered cage, but they wouldn't go down to the cage floor. I relented after an hour and gave them a single perch at the bottom. I tried to fake them out by placing another perch on the cage floor. Finally I gave up and closed their light totally after leaving them on the bottom perch. This morning the female was dead on the cage floor. I dunno... was it the strain of wanting to reach the non-existent upper perches thruout the night which is responsible? She looked like she was improving otherwise. I hope this postmortem helps other owners. :-(
