We had adopted a green parakeet that was only fed pot seeds. After feeding it a normal diet, it's plummage looked 100% better. It also went from a bird that just sat in its cage to a lively talkative bird. When it was about 10 years old it's plummage turned from green to yellow. When it was 13 years old it's plummage turned back to green again. It died at about 14 years old. Between my family and I, this is the longest any of the birds have ever lived. I think that most birds die an early death because of sicknesses caused by drafts. Although I did have a parakeet that died of a broken heart. (I swear.) I had two parakeets and the male was just nuts over the female but the female first got along with him but later snubbed him out. He was devastated.

Must take alot of "product" to provide that much seed. ;-} Interestingly enough hemp seeds are in alot of seed mixes and provide some good oils however it's no surprise that the birds wasn't showing great plumage.
