I am planning a trip to Mexico to do so birding and scuba diving around the middle of March. I am planning to visit the Yucatan Peninsula on the Caribbean side and then on to Cozumel Island. I have also heard of an island, referred to as Contoy, that is a state park and bird sanctuary somewhere around Cozumel. Has anyone ever heard of this place? Is it worth going to? Based on past experiences, it always pays to ask advice of those that have been there before or at least know more than I do about the area. I would appreciate any info and hints as to where to go for the best birding and what to expect to see on the mainland and islands of Yucatan, Mexico.
